Why Your DStv Has No Signal (E48-32 Explained)

The E48-32 no-signal error is the most common DStv fault. Here's what causes it and how to diagnose it before calling a technician.

What E48-32 actually means

E48-32 tells you the decoder is not receiving a usable signal from the LNB on your dish. It is a symptom, not a cause. The cause is almost always one of five things: dish alignment, LNB failure, cable damage, connector corrosion or an Extra View wiring problem.

Quick things you can check yourself

Look at the dish โ€” has it moved, tilted or been hit by a branch?

Check the cable at the back of the decoder โ€” is it fully screwed on?

Do a soft reset of the decoder (unplug for 30 seconds).

If you have Extra View, check whether both decoders show the error or only one.

When to call a technician

If the cable and connectors look fine and both decoders show the error, you almost certainly need a signal test with a professional satellite meter. This is a 20-minute job for a technician and usually results in a re-alignment or an LNB replacement.
